Our users can set up SMS sending through their own Android phone so that messages are sent directly from the company’s device.
A special application is installed on the phone, which connects to the account. As a result, when there is a need to send an SMS, the device receives the corresponding command.
To send messages, the phone must be turned on, and it must have sufficient balance for SMS or an active SMS package according to your plan.
Download and install the special application on your phone.
Since the application is being downloaded outside the official Google Play Store, warning notifications may appear on the screen. You need to confirm them and continue the installation.
After the installation is complete, the application shortcut will appear on the home screen of your Android device.
Connecting to the service
Open the Communication Channels tab.
In the channels window, click Configure in the SMS section.
In the window that appears, select Fromni-SMS and click Manage.
Next, click the Add button.
Enter the connection name in the window that appears.
This information is for internal use only and is not visible to clients.
Copy the numbers from the Code field to link with the app on your Android phone.
Enter the code in the Fromni Proxy app on your Android device and click Connect.
The app will request access to SMS and Notifications — click Allow to continue.
After connecting on your phone, click Next. The created connection can be found in the list. You can also delete or edit it by clicking the corresponding buttons next to the connection.
If you encounter any issues
If there are issues with the app or messages are not being delivered, you can try the following.
As a first step, try reconnecting the app by repeating the previous steps.
The app token will be updated, after which message sending will resume.
If the problems persist, grant the app additional permissions for stable operation.
Locate the Fromni Proxy icon on your home screen, long-press it, and select About app from the menu that appears.
Open the Permissions tab in the window that appears.
Ensure the app has the required permissions (SMS, Notifications). At the bottom of the screen, disable the Pause app in inactive periods option.
Go back to About app and select Battery usage for apps.
Choose Unrestricted — this will ensure the app runs stably in the background.
