SMS Channel Setup on Android Devices

Initial setup
Our users can set up SMS sending through their own Android phone, allowing messages to be sent directly from the company's device.

First, you need to install a special app on the phone and connect it to your Fromni account. Consequently, when it is necessary to send an SMS, the device receives the corresponding command.
To send messages, your phone must be turned on, and it must have sufficient balance for sending SMS or an active SMS package according to your tariff plan if you also use Fromni Chatbot service.
  • Download and install the special application on your phone.
Click the Download File button below.
Then select the "Download" (or "Install") option.
Since the app is not downloaded from the official Google Play Store, warning notifications may appear on the screen. Simply confirm and proceed with installation.
After successful installation, the app icon will appear on your Android device's home screen.
Service Connection
Open the Communication Channels tab on the left panel.
Go to Settings to configure the SMS channel.
In the pop-up window, choose Android-SMS and click on Manage.
  • Then click the Add button.
  • Enter the Connection name of your preference.
This name is for internal use only and is not visible to your clients.
  • Copy the digits from the Code field for establishing connection with the Android app on your device.
  • Open the Fromni Proxy app on your Android device, enter these digits and Connect.
  • The app will request access to SMS and Notifications — choose Allow to continue.
  • When the connection is established on your phone, click Next. Check whether your connection has appeared on the Fromni personal account as you can see on the screen below. Keep in mind that you can delete or edit it whenever you need by clicking on the corresponding buttons just next to it.
Troubleshooting
If you face any issues with the app or your messages are not being delivered, you can try the following steps.
At first try to reconnect the app by repeating all previous steps.
The app token will be updated and message sending should start working again.
If the issue can not be solved, please manage the additional permissions in your app settings to ensure stable operation.
  1. Locate the Fromni Proxy icon on your home screen, long-press it, then open App info from the menu.
  2. Go to the Permissions tab
  3. Make sure that the required permissions are allowed (SMS, Notifications). At the very bottom, you can see an option Pause app activity if unused. Please disable it in case it’s turned on.
  4. Go back to the App info section and select Battery usage for apps.
  5. Choose Unrestricted — this will ensure reliable app performance in the background.
